OK, why is this so damned hard to answer? 2004 XLT/NBX with factory sun roof. I need to remove the overhead console. Nothing evident in examining the cover, so I'm left with the group for an answer.

How does this cover come off? There have been other requests for this information; left unanswered. Why? What is so tough about getting this information? Ford won't help; they want to do the job; except they wont because it's a mod (Homelink mount).

I would really appreciate the information. Keep in mind, this is a Gen 3. The only answers to removal to date have to do with earlier models.

As with most overhead consoles, there is no screws or bolts that you would see. They will be on the inside of the console that mount the inner bracket to the roof.

What you need to do, is from the front of the OHC towards the winshield find a spot to grab it along the grove on the headliner, and pull slowly. The OHC is attached by metal clips. I emphasise pull slowly, and a little force and it should come out easily.

That is exactly correct - super easy. I've had mine off, using that exact process, several times already doing the exact same mod - piece of cake! Once you here one corner 'pop', you can slide your had across and 'pop' the other clips. It really is very easy once you get it going.

Thank you both for your input. Right on the money.
