im going to be tackling a sas pretty soon and im trying to figure out just what springs i need to use. Im going to be using a d44 out of a waggy, i actually am getting the whole jeep. I want to run at least 38" tire and still have plenty of room to flex. I know that most people use replacement waggy springs from jcw or some place similar. im just looking for a bunch of opinions. Thanks

I know 3 people including myself that are using the stock waggy 7 leaf packs.

The big problem i am having is guessing what lift i can go with to still be legal. My bumper has to be no greater than 32" from the bottom of the bumper to the ground. Of course i can get/make a larger bumper but im trying to figure out what to go with.

ya, you'll need a new bumper. Im at 33" with a 6" suspension and 3" body, and thats measuring to the airdam on the bumper not the bumper itself.

Waggy 44044's are popular. Good flex.

I'm running 2.5" lifted YJ's. They ride well and flex great.

Could you use the 44044's on a Dana 60 if you put the correct spring perches on it? Or is there another leaf that fits a Dana 60 and still gives good flex?

Springs don't fit any particular axle. Yes, you can put any spring on any axle with the right perch setup.

What determines spring choice is hanger placement. Or the other way around.

Also, do bushings add any width at the eye? Like would I need a hanger larger than 2.5" if my spring was 2.5" wide to accomidate for the bushing?

How much overall lift have you acchieved with your SAS? And adding your 2.5" lift springs, did they acutally give you more than 2.5"?

Is there any other lift springs that will still flex very well but yeild arond 4" of lift for their intended vehicle? Or could I add a TeraFlex revolver shackle to gain more flex? Maybe both? lol

I'd skip the revolver crap, they can unload unexpectantly from what i've gathered.

I've seen them on that extreme4x4 show, on the cheap jeep project. I think they're trash even more after seeing them bangin around.

A sas wit stock waggy springs will give you 7-8" from what ive seen, more or less depending on how you set things up.

So with the 44044's, you would avchieve even more? Sweet. lol

Code, is there another product that you would recomend that would be better than a revolver shackle? Or is there just no replacement for a good set of leafs? lol

Mickey

Good leaves is what i'd be looking for. I've never ran revolovers, but like I said i've heard alot of bad reviews and seen them on tv. I

A properly setup leaf suspension with basic shackles, will perform just as well as a crappy leaf setup with revolvers. The problem with Revolvers is even though they give you more "flex", its not usefull travel. The way a revolver works is when theres no weight on the shackle the revolver extends. but since there is no weight on it, the flex it gives you is useless. The other thing about revolvers is they dont add any perfomance and they have really bad unloading of them, which could put you on your lid.

If you want really good springs that are made for your trucks wieght, and intended use, call up alcan springs. www.alcanspring.com
