Get an attorney?

Hello,

My Dispute Resolution Board paperwork is complete. Funny timing tha tI received a call today from someone I know at a Ford dealerhsip, asking how I like my Explorer. After explaining my situation with the vibration and my intnet to pursue the Lemon Law route he strongly recommended that I get an attorney involved now, before it even goes to the Dispute Res. Board. The attorney he recommended works for a firm with a less-than-wholesome appearance (to me). Perhaps it does not matter who is "on my side", but geez....

So, if any of you good folks have knowledge of the process in Michigan, I would love to hear about it either here or via private message. If anyone has an attorney recommendation I would appreciate knowing that as well.

Ha! That's awesome that a representative of the brand you have a grievance against is recommending an attorney to use against that very brand. Ain't that rich

Most states have a law board that you can call and they can recommend a attorney.

My lawyer is excellent. We got a successful resolution from Ford regarding all of my Explorer issues. I've also used him in the past for Nissan related lemon law litigation.

I spoke with him, and he said he is able to take clients from other states, I would suggest giving him a call. If you do, please tell him Nic sent you so he knows where you're coming from.

btw.. I would definitely talk to him prior to filing your dispute resolution, I believe once you enter arbitration you are bound to complete that process before pursuing any other recourse, and the arbitrators result can be used against you in any other filings. It may not be the best path to take, I know in our case filing suit was a better option.

Thanks for the information. You are the second person familiar with the process to recommend contacting an attorney first. The info on the BBB website makes it sound much more "friendly".

Because most lawyers do lemon law cases on contingency, and most states are very pro consumer and have provisions in lemon law suits that if any settlement is reached (including a repurchase) the manufacturer must pay the attorney costs for the consumer.

I'll put it this way... I went from an XLT w/ relatively no options, to a Sport w/ 402a and my payments dropped by more than 100$ a month. I'm not allowed to say what the resolution to my case was, but a simple repurchase would not have resolved it to my satisfaction.

Getting a free consultation from a lawyer can never hurt prior to pursuing any legal recourse against a manufacturer.
