get stuck in 4x4?????

I have a 2005 sport trac. A few years ago my transfer case went and I had it rebuilt. Of course it's giving me problems again. When I try to switch back to 2wd from 4x4 high, it usually doesn't. I'll have to drive around for a while and eventually it will "pop" back in. I don't even try 4x4 low anymore because I got stuck in that mode also and that wasn't fun trying to drive home!

Any ideas?

Disconnect/reconnect the 4x4 module behind the right kick panel several times. If that cures the problem then purchase some dielectric grease and apply to connector contacts. Do this to the connector @ the shift motor also.

Typically the problem is the electric shift motor and not the transfer case itself.
