Getting a New 2002 X

Alright guys. Dad Got the new X today and is it sweet! It is so smooth to ride in and the space is more than my 95 X. He got the V6, cloth seats, 6 CD player in dash, electric windows, manual seats, 3 row seat, not the smokers package, and more.

That's right stephen. The button for it is just to the right of the steering column on models equipped with it.

Digger congrats on the new truck!!! I know what you mean about the better ride and handling than the '95 model. When I test drove an '02 XLS I fell in love with it. Hey maybe your dad will let you "borrow" it from time to time.

IDK havn't gotten to drive it yet. i will in a month or so. Dads protective of it sence it's new and all

Jason, since I test drove the V6 engine I can attest to how it is. Since I see that you have a '95 I assume you have the 4.0L OHV engine that I have also. The engine in the '02 X is soooooo nice and has so much power. I had a very easy time getting the truck up to 70 MPH when I test drove it. I wish I could just drop that motor in to my X. I feel it has more than adequate power for the truck. Then again Digger does have the 3rd row seat in his so it may be slower than the XLS I drove.

I believe the 3rd row automatically gets the 3.73 gears.
The V6 is just fine as far as i am concerned. Just check out the power band. And the torque converter is pretty aggressive. Plenty of power.

We have:
4X4
2002 XLT
3rd row seat
V6
3.73 gears
Tow package upgrade
aux air
leather (3rd seat is vinyl)

Gas mileage however could be better.
Oh well , less than a 1,000 miles so maybe it will improve or we will learn how to drive it better. The throttle spring is kinda weak so it is easy to give it a lot of gas all the time. Last combined tank was 13mpg!
Trying for better mileage this tank!

We have both so it's hard to tell.
But while reading the owners manual it seems to say that you also get the 3.73's with the 3rd seat. Better people hauling? I think the only way to tell would be to look at one on the lot.

How about this:
Did his father get the upgraded class 3/4 tow package? (Who knows, maybe they slip it on all 3rd seat vehicles. Then they can charge for both.)
If he didn't, then he can check his vehicle sticker and tell us if it lists 3.73 gears or not.

we got the towing package so we have 3.73. the towing thing in the back is a small hole.

They come with towing (a small hole in back) but there is a towing upgrade class 3/4 package you can get. (bigger hole in back). Do you have the standard towing or upgraded class 3/4 towing? I think you get the 3.73's with the 3rd row seat anyway. That's what i said earlier and explained why. So i am just curious what yours has. It should say 3.73's on the window sticker if you have it. Does it say it? Do you have the smaller hitch hole in back or the class 3/4 hitch hole?
