To set the record straight...
Just so you know SaleemEXP and RTStork, I do know what I'm talking about. I own an '84 Camaro that's modified to the gills. it has no stock component in it except the glass windows! Here are some of the major modifications:
- Holley 650 Carb (Remember those)
- Elderbrock intake manifold
- Elderbrock headers
- True dual 2.5" exhaust (Hey SaleenEXP, you'll love this one- it has not CATALYCTIC!)
- Chevy Orange color engine accented by chrome accs.
- Dual battery (one for 1,000 watt/16 speaker system)
- Mustang hood scoop (molded in and fucntional!)
- Suspension dropped by 2"
- largest possible tire without sticking out on the side.
- Shaved Antenna, side markers, emblems,...
- Corvette tail lights under a GTS black out kit.
...I have much more but I do not want to bore you some more. My point is, eventhough, it's fun seeing the result when it's done, at the end you are not really happy at the end result. You always want more. I don't know about you but I do not have unlimited cash flow.
I had sold the Camaro about 4 years ago when I realized I no longer need it when I got my Xplorer. The dependability of a stock vehicle outweights the modification and the headache that comes with it when it eventually breaks down.
It is nice to know before you head out on a long trip that you're vehicle won't breakdown because the clamp on the exhaust wasn't tight enough or the new modification you did did not work out the way you thought it would.
Guys, I know what I'm talking about. Some modifications are just not worth it.
