What are some things I should get done before I go on this long distance trip? I already intend to have an oil change and tire rotation? Any comments or thoughts are welcome. Thank You!

Assuming you have no outstanding problems with your Trac, also consider the DIY stuff: check your coolant fluid level; check your windshield washer fluid level; if you've been putting off replacing your wiper blades, consider doing so now; grab an el cheapo 9007 headlight lamp in case one decides to blip out while driving at night, after the hours when stores are open.

Air filter if it is dirty, fuel filter if it has not been changed recently, and balance the tires along with the rotation. Check ALL the fluids, this means coolant, brake, power steering, tranny, t-case, axles.
Front end alignment if it is pulling at all, that will get REAL old on a 2000 mile trip.

Update the Prep Work

Alright. I changed the oil. Fixed a problem with my balljoints and tierods that I have been putting off for a long time. The tires were taken care of under the sears warranty. The only issue outstanding is the last time I took it to ford they recommended that I change the upper and lower radiator Hoses. Honestly, I just think they were looking for something to do on the truck because at the time nothing was wrong. I looked at the Hoses as best as I could and felt there to be no real reason for urgency. Thoughts? Obviously if these hoses go I will be out of commission for a couple hours.

I am running original hoses ( all of them ) in my '99 with ~130k miles.
