Well as much as I don't want to, I think it is time to sell my 99 Mountaineer.
Just bought my wife the Escape she wanted and I already have a 97 Sport that will be my keeper.
Here's the issue, I have alot of mods on my Mounty; Powerdyne supercharger, Torque monster headers, Gibson cat back, wide band O2-boost/vac-fuel pressure gauges, MAFia (MAF extender) ect...

so...Do I try to sell the vehicle like it is, or remove all what I can and put it back to "stock" and peice the parts out on Ebay?

I would really like to keep it, but I just can't afford to have a number of vehicles (insurance, registration, taxes, the whole bit)

Thoughts/ideas?

:(

In this case, the pieces are probably worth more than the whole. It is rare to get much for those kind of mods when they are installed. Not only that, it severely limits your buyer pool. Not too many want a modded Explorer. I would put it back to stock.

ditto

Its sad, but if its worth $3000 stock then its worth $3100 with your mods. :( You will come out alot better putting it back stock and selling the parts.

do u got pics of ur mounty

would it be possible to swap alot of that stuff over to your 97 sport or is it not compatible because of a diffrent engine? If it was possible thats what I would do.

The Mounty i assume is a v8 while the sport has the v6. So no, most of the engine modifications wont switch over. But any cosmetic mods may switch over, or non related engine mods as well.

Just out of curiosity- not ripping at all whatsoever- why sell a modded out Mounty and keep a '97 sport?

It all depends on your asking price and how fast you want to move it. If you sell the parts 1 by 1 it will take longer and your asking price for the mounty will have to be more flexible with stock parts. I don't think you will get more than KBB for your mounty with those mods, but I can just about 99% assure you wont get near KBB for it with stock.

Well here are some piks..

I am going to part with the Mountaineer because the Sport if stock, it is a stick, and only has 18K miles.

I do have all the original parts, I even ordered a new trim piece to replace if I take the gauges out.

One of my problems not just the fact that I have to pay reg/taxes/insurance but it space. My wife has a company vehicle, I have my 2 vehicles, and now she has her Escape...(and I have my mom's Mustang which I aquired when she passed away for my son when he turns 18)

I think putting it back to stock makes the most logical sense, as it defiantly would appeal to a broader range of audience.

18k? Good reason! :D

yeah i agree w/ everyone else, your not gonna get diddly squat extra with the mods on, so part them out on eBay, and if needed get stock stuff from the JY, thats your best bet i think

You can also pay your Elite dues and put them on here. I'm interested in a couple of items, but can't say anything until you become Elite and post them for sale.
