Glitch since 1/25/16 "system maintenance"

You don't have to upgrade. Biggest addition to the lastest version is more iOS integration. Your problem sounds a bit different.

The upgrade might do the trick, but you may also find yourself at the dealer getting a reload to reset the system options.

Remember that MFT has an extended warranty, so you should not have to pay anything to fix it.

Thanks for the info

On syncmyride i had this message:
FSA Title: SYNC WITH MYFORD/MYLINCOLN TOUCH - WARRANTY EXTENSION COVERING ACCESSORY PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE (APIM)
Field Service Action Number: 12M02

Is this the extended warranty you referred to?

Hey Beneastman,

Installing the 3.8 update would definitely be my recommendation. Let me know how it goes. I'm here if you need a hand.

Whitney

Thanks Whitney,

On syncmyride it says my last update was a little over a year ago on jan 2, 2015. I dont recall anyone doing that. I didnt do it and i wasnt having it serviced on that date. Any guess as to why it says that?

Thanks

Ben

You should always have the most up-to-date version installed. You are 2 versions behind. V3.6.2 came after the one you currently have.

I have also moved your thread to the IVT sub forum.

Peter

Peter,

I still havent done the battery disconnect yet. Would you suggest i try that first or just go ahead and install the new version 3.8.

Thanks
Ben

Hi Ben. You can do the battery first if you want to see if 'fixes' any current issues. When doing the update you will have to re-pair your phone again anyway so either way you will lose some but not all memory settings. It took most members around 20 - 25 minutes to load the update into the MFT. The instruction say that it should be done while driving so there is no chance of the engine stopping before the update is completed. I think it depends on how long a period you have the automatic engine shutoff feature set for. Some did it without the engine running so I don't know if that changes the loading of the program to any degree or not. I did mine when I had a 25 minute drive planned. It completed just before I reached my destination.

Thanks for the tips. Luckily i dont have that much in memory besides my phone pairing

Success! Disconnecting the battery cable did the trick. The interface is now displaying the correct icons now and the backup cam is working. I suppose next ill try downloading and installing the new software update. Although i may just drive a few days before potentially creating any new problems.

Thanks to all for your ideas and suggestions!

Yes I am. I was just speaking to 3.6.2 because that is what he mentioned. Haven't had a reboot with 3.8 BUT like I said, only had 2 or 3 with 3.6.2 in the few years it was out.

Starting with 3.6.2, a system reboot(performing system maintenance) is done every so often after you shut down your vehicle. Most times you won't notice. The way to tell now is is to close the "instruction page" that comes up when you hit the voice commands, just hit the X in the upper left corner. This page will not reappear until after a reboot has been done. After 3.6.2 your ambient lighting used to reset to default as well. That was fixed with the tsb, or an upgrade to 3.7 or beyond. There is also another setting that resets to default, but I can't recall what it is, something to do with navigation I think. It may also do a reboot while driving at times if it hits a glitch.

Hi Ben,

The update history doesn't always mean the date you did an update. You may have run a Vehicle Health Report on 1/2/15 and the website is reflecting the version you had then.

Thanks. I may have run the diagnostic around that time.
