Any one had any glitches since the latest "Performing scheduled system maintenance"? Mine updated 1/25/16 and since then noticed two things:

1. Interface appears slightly different. Heated seats icons different and cant seem to activate heated seats. Also added a/c seats icon, which i dont have.
2. Backup camera not working. Screen doesnt change when put in reverse.

These two things began immediately following the "system maintenance" so i figure must be related. Just wondering if any of you experience similar?

2013 Explorer Xlt.
(I did a master reset afterwards but its the same.)

Thanks.

Pull the battery cable for 15 minutes and see what happens.

The performing system maintenance message is simply a reboot of your MFT. Nothing new was updated. I'm not saying the reboot didn't cause your issues, I'm saying there is nothing updated when it reboots. As suggested the pulling of the battery cable will help clear the memory and do another reboot.

Thanks for the input. I'm going to try pulling the battery cable this weekend.

My following comments may be moot until after I try disconnecting the battery cable, however I still think it is odd that my screen interface appeared differently after MFT rebooted. (I'm referring to the automatic reboot it performed, not the one I did manually) Just sharing info here, that's all.

Most everything still works properly. The thing that surprises me is where I previously had 2 icons for heated seats, now I have 4 icons that includes A/C seats. Where I previously had no icon for heated steering wheel, now I do have an icon for that function. My car is not equipped with heated steering wheel and AC seats. The only other thing I noticed is that I used to be able to browse the camera settings by going to Settings>Vehicle>Camera Settings. Now the camera settings are no longer an option in the menu.

I'll see if any of this changes after pulling the cable. I appreciate the info that no updates happen with the "scheduled maintenance." I used to think it was like a mini OS update.

While I'm on the subject - any cautions (besides the normal ones) when I pull the cable? I notice the hot side has some kind of a module connected to it. Don't want to fry anything. I generally disconnect hot first.

Thanks

-Ben

Disconnect the negative side.

Funny thing. I just got "preforming system maintenance" for the first time since I got (and have stayed with because it works) 3.6.2 the other day.

Everything works fine, but was not pleased to see it after being fine since I uploaded 3.6.2 two years ago.

Anybody get this once and no probs after, or is it a sign of things to come?

I've had it happen 2 or 3 times since 3.6.2 has come out. If I remember correctly, they were from starting and putting it in reverse to back out of my garage. Just a black screen, no back up camera. After 30 seconds or so the maintenance message popped up and it reboots.

I am assuming it just didn't boot correctly upon startup.

Actually, it happened on start. Screen went that light gray on start (not dark) for a few seconds and then it rebooted. Fine since then, but it has only been a couple of days.

Are you not on 3.8?

Peter

jmr061-thanks for the battery disconnect warning. Brain freeze. Ill remove the negative first.

Peter

Yes I am. I was just speaking to 3.6.2 because that is what he mentioned. Haven't had a reboot with 3.8 BUT like I said, only had 2 or 3 with 3.6.2 in the few years it was out.

Is there a way to tell which version im running?
Yes, but I'd have ti check in the IVT section for that. I believe you press the "i" (info button) on the MFT screen and the press on 'Software' or something like that and then check the numbers that show. It would say 3.8 or anything easy to read of course. I'll check.

EDIT: Okay, ignore all that I said. Press Settings on the MFT screen, then press Help and then press System Information. Then you will see CCPU S/W Version. Mine shows 3.08.15128.EA.10_PRODUCT.
It looks like the have actually added the version number now.

There is a way in MFT but it's more of looking at software codes. The easiest way is to log into your syncmyride account and it will tell you what version you have or if you have an update available.

Just went in and checked mine and as mentioned in my edited post above, it looks like the software version is now shown. I didn't realize that.

Yup, can't really figure out what software version it is by that lol. That's why it's just easier to log into syncmyride to get the correct version.

Why make it easy for us to figure it out on the MFT screen?? lol

I just checked syncmyride. Thanks for the tip. Looks like im currently running version 3.5.1. Maybe thats part of my problem. It says 3.8 is available. Wondering if i should go ahead and install 3.8.

Hey Beneastman,

Installing the 3.8 update would definitely be my recommendation. Let me know how it goes. I'm here if you need a hand.

You should always have the most up-to-date version installed. You are 2 versions behind. V3.6.2 came after the one you currently have.

I have also moved your thread to the IVT sub forum.

You don't have to upgrade. Biggest addition to the lastest version is more iOS integration. Your problem sounds a bit different.

The upgrade might do the trick, but you may also find yourself at the dealer getting a reload to reset the system options.

Remember that MFT has an extended warranty, so you should not have to pay anything to fix it.
