Good cheap sub? MtX 8000? What does it compare to?

Yeah, thats the sensitivity at 1 watt/ 1 meter. The mtx is low 86 I think, so it takes more power to push.

Is the Reference a better sub than the Perfect? The Perfect has some nice specs, and is in my price range. It also recomends a small enclosure, and is ok for free air use which make me a bit leary. I am not a fan of JL and I won't buy it :)
The reference is the bottom of the Infinity line, but a better sub that some manufacturers top sub!. The Infinity Perfect is one of the best SQ subs ever made, and handles a ton of power, yet decently sensitive. If you can find one within your price range (Most are around $150-$180) Id hop on it, you WONT be dissapointed!

I can get a single Perfect in my budget. I guess I'll have to break down and tour the local audio shops.

I currently have a pair of Infinity Kappa Perfect's (12"s) - model Kappa 12.1D (dual voice coil, 4ohm impendence) sitting in my room. Brand spanking new. I can't explain how pleased I was. I was going to use all four, but I have 2 left over. I'd rather sell them as a pair, but if not, I know Stomper was interested in just one also, so this may work out for the best here. Let me know. I think I was going to let them go for $125/$130 a piece. I'll give you first dibs on the pair, if not, I'll talk with Stomper about getting one to each of you.

These things are a beauty...

There ya go man! Id hop on those!!

I'd love to take one of those off of your hands, but I can get one for just about the same price, with a 1 year warranty. If you want to ship me one for $140 I'd buy it today. I fully understand if you don't want to take the loss, and I appreciate the offer.

Sounds good to me. Let me check if Stomper is still interested, and get this squared away asap. :)

Sweet. Let me know.

How do you think the Perfect would sound in a ported 2 cube enclosure tuned to 27hz? I've always had sealed boxes and wanted to try out a ported one. The box will eventually get redone,(I want to try out a fiberglass project down the road)

It suggests for a 1.0-1.25 sealed (mine is 1.08), or a ported box @ 2.20. I'm not a fan of ported boxes really. The graph here shows it pretty nice tuned at 27Hz, check out infinitysystems.com and look at the manual of it if you'd like. I would assume it should sound just as good as sealed.

BTW, Stomper is no longer interested.. so I guess you're it. It's amazingly hard to find a buyer for a single sub... which in this case, I may just keep one I suppose. Let me get back to you tomorrow about it, cool?

Well I'm just going to do this, whether the other sells or not isn't a problem at this point. If you'd like to do this, let me know ASAP. I'll ship it out as soon as I get your okay, though I'd like the payment to head to expo5.0 as I owe him some right now. But we can talk about that in a PM later.

If you're still interested, let me know.

You have a PM.

Bump.

Final Bump.

How about Adire Audio. I haven't tried them but they get rave reviews. The Shiva is a dual 8ohm sub that has a balanced SQ/SPL reputation. Many other audio boards love this thing and for $125 shipped it seems to be in your price range. Just a consideration if you haven't commited yet. For the price I'd be trying one of these if I had the room.

I ended up purchasing the Infinity from Draft, which I am more than pleased with. Thanks for the input anyways :)
