Good or bad idea?

I was doing some research on warrior shackles and it says they are only for a 1.25" lift. I was wondering if it was a horribly bad idea to get my hands on some super thick steel and make my own. Has anyone done this yet? What do you guys think?

PS - When I say make my own, I mean get my buddies who are welders by trade to make them for me.

Its not a bad idea, people on this forum have done it before. If you do a search there is somebody who actually has full plans with all measurements that you could mimic. good luck

WICKED...I typed in custom shackles and about 4000 pages of links showed up. Any tips on narrowing it down

Now comes the tricky question. What size of lift do I really want? I want to look bigger obviously but I don't want to max out my suspension. I will be doing a TT up front so what size lift do you suggest I get these guys to make them?

Well, about 2" is as much as you can go on a TT before you create bad angles for the CV joints. So probably about that.

and dont go to wild with shakles in the back and get the pionion angle off on the diff
