so like the titile states ford sent me a letter, about my explorer today. It was about a uncompleted recall for the 1999 explorers. The recall is for speed control system modification, good thing is there is no charged and its good till whenever so im thinking just to wait till it goes bad, and take it in. Anybody else get a letter like this before?

mine had that recall as well but i got it fixed now

That's an ancient recall. I got the work done some time ago. They keep sending it because your truck "might" spontaneously combust if you don't. It's a "while you wait" exercise at a dealership, but they only keep so many kits so phone ahead and set up an appointment (that's how I did it). Took maybe 20 minutes from the time I arrived to the time I left.

When it "dies" your explorer will go up in flames.

and possibly anything else around it (garage, house). don't wait, you could be sorry.

you don't need to wait for the letter. when i put the factory cruise into evil (it never had it from factory) i used the serial number from a 00 that i parted out. it didn't have it done, and they were able to do it for me with out the letter.

While you are there ask them to do the seatback bolt recall too

There is a seat back bolt that can break and send you into the back seat if it breaks and you are not aware of it...

I took my 99 in for the cruise control recall and the dealership asked if I could fix something else.. When i asked them what it was, they told me about the seatback bolt problem...

It's a very quick, "outpatient" proceedure. :)

You drive up and tell them, they plug in the new piece, and you go.

i can't find my picture but it's pretty simple.

y do explorers have a lot of recalls
