um only thing i did upgrade on my truck was upgrade the rancho rs5000 shocks and added 30x9.50 bf allterrain ko tires.. but. since i had other ford bronco 2 with 3 inch body lift.. my wife wouldnt let me have 2 toys.. so i assume the bronco 2 is going for sale..so but one deal i made with my wife that as soon my bronco 2 is sold. i would keep 2k cash from my bronco 2 to fix up the explorer.. so um got a question.. what would you guys suggest if you were me with 2 k cash.. get the lift and what else ?? for up to 2k cash price.. i was more thinking of 4 inch lift or 5.5 superlift.. i dont know.. anyone who has them done.. let me know how was it.. where do you buy it ? what kind of brand.. I was more leaning to rancho suspension lift.. but other friend say more like go for trailmaster..I just want to purchase completely suspension lift i mean everything the whole set of kit... no gimmck ya know.. so many thanks and please help out.. thanks again dude..

Money, Money , Money

The only way to answer this is to pretend I had a stock Explorer and it was my money. It really depends on what you plan to do with the truck.

Lift Kit; Superlift 5.5" worked real well for me. Handles the trails very well and gives it that nice look. Not to many lifted Explorer's around, so I get lot's of "looks". This will take most of your money if you have them install it ( Recommened, if you are not a mechanicle type, welding involved ) Shop the price and try to beat $1500 with extended Break lines, dropped pitman arm and RS9000 shocks. Your RS5000 wont fit after the lift & the 9000's let you adjust the ride for real soft on the trails to more stiff on the road.

Once it's lifted you'll want to complete the look and go with some 33's. Shop used wheels and tires in the $500 range.

After this save for the other things that will come up, Hi-lift jack, full size spare, lockers, gears, & racks and winches.

Good luck with your choices.

thanks ...

hey..

thanks for the information.. Um.. if i go ahead with the superlift 5.5inch.. does it need welding ?? i mean all the dirty work to remove stuff and replace it with nuts and bold or it need to be cut and welding ? cuz 2 of my friends are pretty good with the lift kit and bodylift.. so actuallty one of my friend did 4 inch lift on his new 2000 jeep.. came out pretty good since im not into jeep thing ha..so

again thanks for the information.. hope to meet u somewhere in trail if we bump into 4 by 4 club..

take care..

Yeah.....there is welding involved in the superlift kit.

the rear part of the 5.5" superlift kit is called a spring over axle conversion. Basically if you look under the rear of you truck now, you will see that the leaf springs are bolted under your axle. Now, from what I understand, Superlift sends you relocation brackets, that get welded to the top part of your axle. then you can mount the stock leaf springs on top of the axle to achieve the lift.

Im getting ready to do that lift, and luckily I have a buddy that i used to work with that has done a lot of spring over's. I would hate to see the labor costs from a mechanic to do that!!! OUCH!!!!

There is an alternative, however. I believe that Skyjacker has a 6" kit that gives you all new rear leaf springs. I don't know how well that one works, but I think some people on here don't really like Skyjacker's kits....not really sure though....

I hope that helped some....

thanks for the info !!!

hey,, thanks for the information.. does anyone have any idea how much the labor cost ?? if it's not that bad then I'll have it do it by pro cuz I havent get chance or time to work around my truck even my bronco2 isnt done completely..if not I might use my vacation time to get it done.. hey..riff.. what kind of lift do you use superlift ? let me know how it come out and send me a pix when you're done..
