Removing Side Moldings

Hartman,

How did you get the side moldings out of your X?

Did you have to do paint work?

What kind of paint did you use for tinting the Tail Lenses?

Thanks for your help.

I just peeled the moldings off, they are held on with heavy duty 3M tape. It takes a bit of work to get the excess residue off. I didn't have to do any painting because it is factory paint and I had no fading. If your Explorer had been repainted, I wouldn't pull them off because chances are they didn't paint behind them when you had the repaint.

The tint I used for my tail lights is called Nite Shades.

I will try to peel them off since my X has original paint and no fading yet.

I really liked the way it looks on yours and mine is also a 95 X Black

Thanks,

BlkExplorer

I painted mine flat black....if youre thinking you might take it off one day you might not want to. However if you would have bought a nicer one then you would have had to cut it out I believe.

yeh im paintin it black b4 I put it on ill never wanan take it off !

I had my billet grille on from eBay for a while... it looked awesome from some angles, but when the sun was low in the sky you could see the stock grille behind it... last week I finally painted the stock black and it looks amazing ALL THE TIME! Sure, it may zip-tie on, but I still get comments all the time on how good it looks :)

I'm still deciding whether to leave the Ford emblem on the grille... it looks akward with it, but I think it looks funny without, so gimme everybody leave their $.02

Also, my camera has some funny quirks... one being that it doesn't take great pics of the grille from far away... something about the horizontal bars??

I say take the emblem off. My camera does the same thing. You should get a grille to put in your bumper.

Ok I am painting it flat black. I talked to my dad and he said he could do it as soon as I get the grill. I talked to the ebay guy (Ted) and asked him if I could just buy the Grill tonight and hede ship it out tomm. I also asked him about the bumper grill, Im awaiting his emails.. Cant wate (BTW - Nice truck)

Oh yeh also, ... Take the emblem of !

this picture does a better job of showing the difference between the grilles. notice the edges of the insert and the way it looks behind the grille.

Ok, I just ordered a bumper grille and took the emblem off... it may take a while to get used to it not being there...

Expo5.0... I actually do like your grille(s) better than the ziptie bit... I'm kicking myself now, but I had always thought the one-piece was waaaaay more expensive.

Where did you order your bumper grille from?

I was wondering where Scormunch ordered his bumper billet grille from.
