The engine was a mess.

I don't remember exactly what happened (it was in high school a while ago). I know that her engine was fubar, and couldn't even be rebuilt. Her transmission was rebuilt. Plus, she nearly died because the car skidded. I'm sure you've down-shifted and the car slows down. Now imagine if the wheels suddenly slowed down from 65 to 40 just like that. Not good. She wouldn't drive for a while, and after she'd always shift at 2500. At least it taught her to be more careful.

wait how would that kill the car. that would just destroy the clutch wich could be rebuilt. and besides a ferrari can go like 65 in first gear.

I downshifted from 5th-Reverse once in my old Mazda B2200. I laid some GOOD skid marks. After that I was afraid to downshift for a long long time... I thought I was hitting 4th.

she was doing something like 90 mph.
i heard it destroyed the engine. i'll see if i can find the article on the internet. it happened like a month ago, so i forget what they siad exactly.
