So, in boredom and frustration over not being able to put it in right this minute and not wanting to have to spend the money (I did buy it, I just have to go to work), I am posting!

My alternator stopped charging. No warning. I was just going down the road and the voltage gauge just dropped. I made it home, tested it out, and no charge at all. It will be replaced with a 130 amp model, and it's remanned. any thoughts before I tear into it?

No thoughts, other than an alternator is one of the easiest DIYs on a car. No fluid to drain, no leaks to watch for, no special tools.

I know. But I was thinking more on the remanufactured part. They're cake to put in (unless it's on a late 90's Caddy. Oh God, the pain).

Re-mans are fine.

Mine's had a remanufactured unit for quite a while. Previous owner put it in many years ago and with new battery cables, the volt gauge is high and the truck is happy.
