- 2000 V8 AWD XLT Explorer
So I drive a 2000 Explorer v8 AWD Automatic transmission. Whenever I get up to the speed where my automatic transmission wants to change to 5th gear, (my last gear) it grinds for sometimes a couple of seconds, then gets into the gear. It's been doing this for the past couple of years, and I hadn't though about it too much until lately when it began sounding worse. I don't Think that its the Transfer case, because I've had the front drive shaft out for about 6 months, and it still did the same grinding noise. I also don't think that its the transmission, because I can be going 60 miles an hour, turn off O/D to switch to fourth, and then turn O/D back on, and switch to 5th with absolutely no problems. :scratch: I am at a loss for this one. If you guys got any input, I'd definitely appreciate it.
