Grinding noise when Unlocking

When I hit the unlock button I get a very loud grinding noise coming from the front drivers door, no noise when locking. Anyone know what would cause that and how I can fix?

hey pred, try this link. it helped me fix my dads x, if the rod from the outside handle has alot of play going up and down i strongly believe it will fix your prob. good luck.
