Guys sitting on 20s, come in!

want my opnion? do what I did and drop it..and keep the 22's
you got a sexy x there.

I am keeping the 22s NO QUESTION! Just that they got summer tires(nitto 555 extreme) and my stock limited wheels are peeling bad and the tires are cracking up so I am due for new tires, so I thought I might get new wheels for fall and winter. I want something that would compliment my ride better than my stock wheels.

But I did thought about just buy a set of all season tires for my 22s and then leave them on year-round. But honestly I might have to wipe the salt down every week or they wont last more than a few years lol. Thats why I am torn on which one should I get you know.

BTW, your grille is speed grille, correct? by street scene? where'd you find it? did you get it painted black?

Are you asking if mine are 22's? No, they are 20's and yes it needs to be lowered.

Everyone, I think he is just looking for WINTER rims! He is keeping the 22's for the summer and getting some 20's for the winter.
Thanks for the clarification.
my mistake..i thought he was looking for 20's becuase he was lowering his ex and wanted smaller rims..but if they are just for winter rims..i would say go with a black and chrome..maybe the BOSS..I am a fan of those saleen rims though..depending where you are though, I would not advise custom rims for winter unless you plan on cleaning them every week at least once..I live in Michigan and the salt eats the rims up around here..just make sure to stay away from chrome finishes if you live in a salted winter area
Yeah in some ways I am still sticking with the extremes because it gives a clean stock look and yet very sporty. I could have them painted in mirror black down the road as well.

I hear you on the salt! Mine are polished aluminum and took beating this winter, but I didn't really have a choice:( (I knew it was going to happen) Soon as spring hits, they are getting a thorough detail:D

No **** but you can wipe it down like every week with some all wheel cleaner. Thats what I would do. Yeah I am very fussy lol.

My limited stock chrome wheels are peeling like crazy especially on the back side. I guess Michigan salt got the best of chrome, but based on some compliants, it is one of the common issues with ford explorers' limited wheels.

Yes sir that is a speed scene grill from street scene. Got it directly from them. It was just an alumium color when I got it, but once I started blacking things out, decided to paint it black. I am going to have it powdercoated this spring though becuase the paint chips more than I'd like it to.

CALDWELL..I did all the work myself. You can buy the black backing headlights online. The halos are by advanced automotive concepts, and the HID's match the halos at 8000K. The project is a bit $$ but I believe it paid off in the end with a good look.

and JarvisB..thanks and the grill is just the speed scene grill from street scene that I painted myself..I am going to sandblast and powdercoat in the spring though becuase it is starting to chip a little.

oh and JarvisB...I am painting the trim black as soon as this Michigan winter leaves. I have been wanting to do this for a long time becuase that is the one problem I have with my ex..those plastic trim peices are so ugly.

Hey guys! I found this today and I would say that I am in love with those wheels, the price is great as well ($765 shipped for a set). what do you all think?

go with 22s for sure unless you live at a place with plenty of snow and whatever then you might have to use your stockers for winters.

I got 22s and same size tires as gonzmexican, I am going to lower mine 2" it is going to look really good. and 265/40/22r does not rub!

well you just put a grinn on this face.lol i will definently be doing that do you know what offset would be good??

I suggest you to find a wheel you want and then use this wheel calculator website. it gives you opportunity to enter your stock specs and compare it with your potential wheels

can you tell me where did you get the grille from? and how much did you pay for both upper and lower grilles.

I found some online but they are all like 200 bucks for both upper and lower.

jarvisb what size tire's do you have on your 22" rims

Anyone around here running 10" wide wheels on a 3rd gen?

I am hoping to be able to get a set of 10" wheels if possible.

I know that my 22x7 wheels with 40mm offset clears without any problem with 265/40 tires.

With the 10" wheels, I might need close to 2 more inches to be able to clear. So I am wondering if you guys who have stockers on know how much of space do we have between the wheel/tire and the suspension/components when steering it to full right or left?

If I cant run 10" then i might have to go with 9" wide set.

I have 20' Forte 'Bad Azz' rims on 275 55 r20 Goodyear Fortera Triple tred's, and love them.

Nice, is your truck lowered or not? to me, it is not lowered, correct?

I see you opted to go with 55 series. I am going with 45 series more likely since 275/45 tires are the cheapest of all.

How wide are your rims and are you experiencing any rubbing?

No not lowered.

Rims are 20 x 8.5

Originally I was trying to put 285 50 r20's on them and there was rubbing, so i adjusted the tire size and still they were rubbing with the 275's, not as bad. Thing is the web site I got them from sent me an offset of 45 instead of 40 (even after I told them the make and model of my Ex), that is the reason they rubbed. MAKE SURE OF YOUR OFFSET!!! So my cure for offset was a custom fab place in cali. that made me some .24 inch spacers that were hub centric, of course I painted them gloss black from their shiny aluminum color, lol. Anyway no more rub. :D

Yeah I am aware of it, I am thinking about trying 20x10 with 265/50/20 tires , I will probably need a spacer, I ll be sure to get a good one.

two threads, same question;)

i'd pick the boss 336's(#6).

I have the boss 306's in 20x8.5 with 275/45/20 tires on it. The backspacing is more or less 5 3/4's on an inch if i remember.

Here's a side shot of mine with the 20's, i am going to lower it a bit this summer.
