Guys,, This P.O.S. explorer is killing me!...transmission problems?

Honestly you dont know now. It could be the torque converter which we know it is but now that it has been running for awhile it could of got all those scraps in tranny. I would just get them to do it all at once both tranny and torque cause if they just do torque u have a 50/50 shot of it solving it so my advice get both tanny and torque done at once. Its there damn fault I hate how these punks do a shotty job hell if i knew how to do it i would but we all need help with something eventually just cant do it all.

WELL GUYS !!!!!!!! ITS ****ED AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

Tonight driving to work (I work nights).. IT totally lost everything,, after continuous "slipping" as stated above, I came to a stop light and tried to take off and the RPM's just pegged out like I was in Neutral or something!..and then after putting it into Drive/2nd/1st I got it moving at about 20 mph with the RPM's at about 5K!!!!!!!
I really dont know if I can even get it home, ( I live approx. 55 miles from home!)........
So you guys think now the TQ and the tranny is shot once again?!

-Chris

I would say, why did you even bother driving it? Knowing that there is still something wrong. If i were you i would have the Tranny shop have a tow truck come and pick it up in the a.m.! Making sure they fix it right this time. There is no excuse for BS like this, when you throw out $1500 for somthing, you exspect more from it and the people who did the work.

Raise hell!!!

Don

Sounds like your TQ literally blew up. The inside is probably a bunch of shavings. This in turn damaged your tranny. You need a total rebuild or another swap. A rebuild would be best: new parts are always better than used.

Do not settle for anything less than one of these options. And do NOT pay for that flush that they just did.

Thanks guys,, I am,,,,,,,,,,and as for driving it...I HAVE TO,, it is my only form of transportation. I mean now i guess I will try and get my insurance to pay for a rental until this guy gets it fixed,, it took him 5 days last time to locate a transmission and replace it!...

Oh, and a Torque converter replace/rebuild is no where on the reciept, but he verbally told me this morning that he replaced it because the last one was completely burnt up!....
Is there anything I should be worried about with legally having him honor his warranty on the tranny?

-Chris

Guys,, I managed to get it to the parking lot here at the University of Oklahoma (where i work),, and now that its sat for a hour or so,,,,OD is completely gone,, but still seems to want to go (dont know for how long) in Drive, but this is just like last time,, they will soon go also (Drive, 2nd, 1st, and Reverse)........

Im calling this guy at 7 am this morning,, I am about 55 miles from home and 55.5 miles from him(smile-good to see I still have a sense of humor)...and see what he wants to do,, Im all for trying to get it home but if it dosent make it,, screw it,, he can have it towed back there but we'll see what he has to say about it.....

(Apparently the servicing of the Tranny (Flush, Filter, refill) wasnt the problem solver!....grrrrrrr

-Chris

Good luck to you. Have some towing companies and cab numbers ready!

I personally would have him tow it from there and not drive it. You risk damage to other parts of your truck. It's his problem, let him pay for it! And get the whole thing rebuilt, or have him pay to have it rebuilt at another shop. Also, I hope you paid with a credit card, as you're still within the time for easy refusal to pay.

Well Alec, he said he would take care of everything., After a little bit of using my "angry voice":D .......

I wanted to see how bad the truck tranny was before I took it to him and it seems like this morning the Drive, 2nd, 1st, Rev. is alright but the OD is completely burnt,, it just spins with no movement at all.......

Ill let you guys know how it goes!...

O BTW,, I payed with a check, the trans. was put in exactly 1 month and 2 days ago!.......

Believe me,, this guy will keep fixing the truck till its fixed right!.......

Thanks for you guys' posts,,!
Any other suggestions , comments are more than welcome!...

-Chris

Thats good, im glad your getting everything taken care of! :) So did he tell you what the problem was and if so, did he admit they made a mistake?

BTW, is this chain tranny shop, or just a local guy?

Don

I'm glad he is going to cover it, but be very careful. First, unless the converter he "replaced" came with the tranny he installed, I see no way that he would have just "replaced" it and not charged you or at least noted it on the bill. Converters typically run around $150, and I doubt he would have just thrown a new one in at no charge.

Hey Don,, He's a local guy,, Im from a very small town,,(4-5,000 people is all)

Mike, - Thats EXACTLY what I was thinking too!......He told me that he contacted the place he got the tranny and they said it must have been bad and that they would replace it.

-Chris

Aie Fox ! so How did it turn out ??? just curious ,,,

well daniel its still stitting there at the shop and he is looking for another transmission for it (and a torque converter this time too I hope).

I rekon it will probably take him about 5 days to get it up and going,,,(mad)

-Chris

ohhhhhhhh sh.....t ! yeah I understand ! good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks Daniel!
