What year Explorer?
Manual or automatic tranny?
49 state or Calif ? EGR or not
All of the above will help you get the best info you’re looking for.

as for the purge canister some times the codes are not for the item its self as its only being effected by something other so what is the code your getting on it and what have you done or tested so far that lead you to believe its was only it.
Just trying to get you the best help here I can.

Ok so its a 91 but I.just put a 94 engine in it. We took the egr off and swapped out wiring harnesses. It's an automatic. I live in az.

For the purge canister, well I couldn't get any codes off the pcm so I replaced that and was able to retrieve codes. I got a 117 for the engine coolant sencor, replaced that and it agent away. Also had the 565 for the canister so I replaced that and some dry rotted rubber houses, but still have the code. So i think I might not have my hoses hooked up properly. Also had a 629 for the tcc failure so I have that on order and waiting to r/r that on Tuesday. And that is that. I think Iam on the right track just need some help. I work on jets and coming home and turning wrenches on my x throws me sometimes.lol

Thanks for any help I can get.

Also had the 565 for the canister
The PCM does not really know anything about the charcoal canister, because there are no sensors to tell it anything about the EVAP system. The PCM's only link to the EVAP system is the cannister purge solenoid (CANP). The only thing the PMC knows about the CANP solenoid is whether or not the circuit shows a problem. My own experience with a KOEO 565 is that it indicates some gross fault (either full open or short to ground) in the CANP solenoid circuit. I would suggest you get a wiring diagram and a volt/ohm meter and go over the CANP solenoid circuit until you find the break/short.

I agree with MrShorty and let me add he is one smart cookie!

Working on jets hmm a nice turbine in an explorer what ya think? Should give it a bit of a boost in power! LOL

Here we go so after work today in 107 degree temp my truck starts to idle real low. As soon as I give it gas it dies. Can this all be because of vacume issues. And I can smell exhaust more than usuall

Can this all be because of vacume issues.
I'm sure it is possible for it to be a vacuum issue, along with any number of other possibilities.

If I were diagnosing this one, I'd probably start with a fuel pressure test. One of the fuel pumps I put in my Explorer had real trouble in hot weather, which became obvious when, during a fuel pressure test when the engine was stalling out, the pressure was between 10 and 20 psi (spec is 30-40 psi).

Ok thank you. This is now my priority. I'll worry Bout these codes ltr. Thank you again.

Oh and x with a turbine engine would be sick.lol
