Last week my heater fan stopped working. Was worried it was the control unit after reading some posts where other people had to replace the switch (only worked on high). I have the climate control so I was afraid it would be expensive. I started checking other things out first and found that the plug for the blower motor (under the glove box) was wet. Pulled the motor out, it was no good, full of water? Still not sure why but $79 later I'm back in business.

I'm having an issue with my blower... I have the electronic controls (2002 v8) anyway, when I first start up in the morning, the blower doesn;t kick on at all... it seems to have a short of some sort until I turn up the fan all the way to high... then it kicks in and all settings work. Wondering if I need a new motor? If so, does one have to pull the whole dash out to get to it>>? thanks

Also, I did some searching and it seems that I may need to change the "resister pack" but come to find out since I have electronic controls it may not have that? So any tips how to diagnose or what to replace and how for this would be great. Thanks!

If you are calling the automatic climate controls "electronic controls" then you do not have a problem. When you select auto on the controls the blower will not turn up until the engine warms up a bit, this way it does not just blow cold air on you. To answer your question directly, no yo do not have to tear the dash apart. It is accessible from the passenger side under the dash, very easy to change actually.

had it happen on my 04 xlt, the fan only worked on high( #4) . i just replaced the control knob switch. about 20$ or so. working good for a year now. pretty easy to do. just pop off the radio bezel deal, undo the 2 bolts holding on panel that has the 3 knobs on it, un do a wire connector, pop out the fan control switch knob deal and put in the new one.

I was reading alot about resistors as i am familer with a GM set up and them going bad. but i figure i give the switch a try. worked!

good luck

This is my exact issue. Sounds like I need to try what you did. I will check autozone and advanced for the part.
