I have a '99 Sport 4x4 that I really enjoy except for this nagging problem...Sometimes the engine won't start unless I hold the gas pedal down slightly. I know w/ FI engines you should'nt have to do this. Even after it starts it won't idle. I have to keep my foot on the pedal slightly to keep it from cutting off. Sometimes when it's doing it the 4Hi and 4 lo indicator lights will alternately flash but this is rare.If I stop and put in in Neutral or Park and rev the engine until it bounces off the rev limiter, it runs fine then. This problem does'nt seem to be dependent on temperature or moisture to my knowledge and it does'nt always do it. But it does seem to be doing it more often now. thanks in advance for any help...;)

The problem is your IAC valve. It's about 100 bucks, common problem.

Do you know where this valve is located?? Is it something an average wrench can handle?? I have the SOHC engine which I failed to mention if that makes a difference...

Its on the top of the intake manifold. It has two bolts, one electrical connection, and a black button looking thing sticking out from it. It's under the SOHC plastic housing.
