Hey guys, I own a 1997 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer with 65k miles, and after driving the car straight as a daily vehicle, recently, when I try to turn the car on, it takes the engine alittle longer to turn. Like I put the key into ignition, then turn the key and i'd have to hold it for like 5-6 seconds to have the engine turn and finally get the car running. What does this mean? What do I have to fix? Other then this, problem, the car runs flawlessly, absolutely no problem. This problem only occurs when I turn it on for the first time in the day, after i initially turn it on, the car can turn on no problem afterwards.

It could be that the check valve in the fuel pump is going bad and allowing the pressure to bleed off overnight. Give this a try: first thing in the morning, turn the key to ON (but don't try to start it) to let the fuel pump prime the system (it will run for a few seconds and then shut off). Then turn the car off. Do that cycle about five times or so. If it fires up fine after that, the check valve is most likely your problem. I don't know if you can replace it seperate of the fuel pump. Probably not.

Also, sometimes when I drive the vehicle, and try revving the engine over 20000 rpm, the engine struggles, and then suddenly jumps up and revs and speeds up. Could this be related to anything along with my previous post?

Fuel delivery problems. Fuel pump's probably on its way out.

dont know how many miles you have on yours, but you can change your fuel filter. its a lot cheaper/easier than replacing the pump. i had 140k on my truck when i changed mine and it worked wonders.
