Hello,
I purchased a used 94 Explorer automatic 4x4 last year from a good friend of mine. When I bought it, he stated that he had it for approximately 1 year. During that time, he routinely had to add transmission fluid on occasion as the fluid would slowly leak out. I have added fluid every so often as there is apparently a small leak somewhere. However, there have been no visible leaks on the ground when I start driving in the am.
Long story short, 3 days ago and while driving on the highway, the truck did not want to shift upwards immediately. I had to let off the gas and then it would shift. No big deal right? Well this am on the way into work, the truck starts feeling a little sluggish as I go to park. Come to find out, I can back up but it jerks a lot. Also, when I now put the truck in neutral, it will not allow itself to be pushed backwards. I can still push it forwards though in neutral.
One of my coworkers said that it sounded like the back end locking up. I am leaning on a bad transmission.
My goal is to figure out the root of the problem. I know that I didn't give too many specifics, however, any assistance that can be provided is greatly appreciated.
