just wandering if anyone else has had this problem. i just put a new battery in it about 3 months ago. and good ideas of what to do would be great. i thought of a freeze plug engine type heater. or the oil stick heater has anyone used theses or installed them and which one worked the best. and what size freeze plug heater will fit 94 xlt.

I sometimes have hard start issues in subzero temps...takes quite a few seconds to fire off.

What do you mean by hard starting? Sometimes it comes down to basic tune-up parts like plugs and wires in winter temps that makes for hard starting.

I have a block heater on my truck, came stock, but would suggest that you use a pad type heater for the oil pan, affixed with silicon adhesive. I find it is more effective and it uses much less power and heats the oil up for less wear at start up.
