Ok this is my first post although i have be using this site for alot of research and troubleshooting for a while. You guys are awesome!
Problem is im having a issue with the lighting on a trailer harness. i have read alot of the threads but cant seem to find one that matches my problem enough to get it fixed.
I want to hook up the 4 pin harness to the X for future towing but for the rest of the time to connect a tailgate lightbar for the brake, running, and turn light functions. i got the bar in the mail today and picked up the adapter to plug into the factory round plug behind the drivers tail light. plugged everything in and it doesnt work properly. the bar has a plug and play 4 pin connector so it should work perfectly. but no luck. the right blinker works correctly, running lights work correctly, left blinker works but "bleeds" to right side slightly for a few seconds then both blink together like hazasrds, by that i mean the right side will blink dimly with the left at full brightness. but no brakes at all. this is where im lost because to my knowledge for trailer lights the brake is just the blinkers on solid together. Shouldnt be a grounding issue since its a plug right from the bar, and bench tested with a 12 volt source the pins on the bar light the bar properly. So my thought is something with the controller in the truck but im not familar with the wiring in the X yet.
any help would be great cause im pulling my hair out having a new "toy" for the X and cant use it!!! haha
