soo i got really bored today and just so happened to have a back hatch thingy (that houses the Ford emblem right above the liscence plate) and also a small thing of bondo. so i figured what the hell, why not. and went about filling it in. it took me almost 1.5 hours to get the contour of the bondo to match the peice. now im just waiting for my "fill in" coat to try and then im going over it with some 220 grit and it gets primed in the morning. ill have pics when im done.

why do this?? you HAVE to keep the ford emblem IMO

shoulda made it more clear, i had an extra one of these deals, i have another one that still has the Ford emblem in it. im going to paint the one without then post a poll and see what everyone thinks.

i know i read that..but how can you get rid of your ford pride?????????????

just not my cup that's all..good work tho!!!

Curtis.. It should look sweet. I think everyone will know its still a Ford. You don't have to add things to your truck just so other people know what it is or what options it has. Less is waaay more.

section..i have to disagree with you on that..you have to let other people know what trim you have...and that it's a ford..cause there are stupid people out there..fact the other day someone at lowes asked about my dad's grill/bumper grill and even with the ford emblem they still said nice jeep..i corrected them and they said oh..sorry..they are out there and if you don't correct them it snowball's(WTF am i talkin about..well you get the idea..lol)

If you like that look and you plan on keeping it that way, I suggest redoing it. Bondo has no structural integrity, it is meant for finish work. Not meant to be spread more than 1/8" thick.

Go to a parts store and get fiberglass reinforced filler, that will work much better. Put a layer of Bondo over that to get the right contour.

AK.....

Find an embelem on my old truck:p :p

I have to disagree that you disagree :D . You don't need to impress stupid people. Let them be confused and hopefully get run over by a bus one lucky day.

Cool. Can't wait to see it when it is done. Hartman is right, the bondo will probably crack after a while.

I don't see a real need for emblems, because it makes you think a little longer when you see a car without them. What kind is that?...

why would you keep the emblem to let peole know what it is and what trim level it is?

you know what it is....the title probably says what trim level it is so it doesn't matter

everyone calls my expo a "blazer"...i laugh and correct them saying "its not a crappy blazer, its a explorer please dont' inslut my truck :) "

People who need emblems are insecure about the appearance of their truck. :D

mine constanly gets called a van....drives me crazy...i think no emblems look good, except on the grille. i like grille emblems....

well, i geuss you guy's have your loves in life..one of my loves in life is emblem's..going without them seem's stupid to me..but hey if you want to make your truck a no-name..more power to you:p

EDIT: hartman..this is for you:p :D

I still have the Ford emblem on my hatch, I'm not anti-emblem, but hell I don't "need" them to prove that my truck is a Ford. An emblem doesn't make the truck a Ford.

whatever..it's personal pref i geuss..but i would like my truck to get reconised(sp?) for what it is..that's all

I will also say Hartman is correct.
First and formost Bondo is junk !!!!!!
Evercoat makes a better body filler. I use Rage Gold.
for filler and Metal Glaze for finishing.

Some deep 80 grit scraches and some Evercoat fiberglass filler will take up the space, and then use the Gold and Metal glaze.

I also like fewer emblems.

Or you cah have fun and put a Yugo emblem on there or something off the wall.
Maybe Peterbuilt or something

Okay that is a bad idea.

Yeah I just picked up some Rage Gold. It's good stuff.
