I'm guessing it was custom made when they painted the lower piece.

thats the body piece you get when you dont have the tow package right?
and i am guessing that center insert is not removeable (I have the tow package)?

if so, then the body shop just cut out the center piece and put a mesh behind it.

I'd be interested to find out where this mesh insert for the rear valance could be found?

PS: Magnaflow makes a catback for about 500 bucks (approx)

interesting setup where the system includes a resonator... i never seen one before in a catback system.

i guess in the factory setup, what i thought to be a multi-cat system (one each at the headers and cats at the driveshaft tunnel), the piece at the tunnel is a resonator?

wish they had dyno chart and sound file of it. and more pics to see if the tips are rolled at the ends.

According to CGS it slips on after the first resonator....um well I was looking at my exhaust I got today and it looks like its gonna be short so we'll see whats up!! I'll be giving everyone a good review and hopefully I can take some decent video.

Tomorrow I DYNO my AWD for baseline dyno then I'll do the intake, I'll have to come home do the install on the exhaust and well go from there!! I'll have to do two different dyno sessions since they won't allow me to come back and do my last dyno with the exhaust.

Hopefully you can get the dyno's done at similar conditions- or do they correct for atmospheric variables? I'm looking forward to seeing the charts!

We'll see this will be my first time with this place, I checked the weather outlook. The next two days look to be about the same temp and moisture. I plan on going tomorrow around 2pm in the afternoon and then again on Saturday at the same time to get similiar variables of the enviroment.

So we'll see if we can make it happen!

Also 3 runs for $80 maybe I can do 4 runs for $120...so this way I can break it into two days.

I'm jealous! If you were local I'd volunteer to bring the beer.

Im about to get this catback, can someone please post pictures of the actual installed thing ?
Also pictures of the box, as it comes from the manufacturer.....

I don't have mine installed yet, I would research it good and make sure what type of options you want.

What I mean is, do you want a straight bolt on or something that is 90% bolt on and requires some cutting. Its up to you, but think of what you want.

I took the plung and bought it, I like but the exhaust tips I got are not the same as the website describes, it appears I am on GEN II I'll post pics up tomorrow as its late and I just got back from work.

I wasn't really impressed by it when I first got it and when I called to complain due to the lack of inventory list and install instructions. Plus one of my y-pipe wasn't built correctly to spec so they sent me another one.

I really don't want to cut the OEM pipe and when I do go to install it will be welded as opposed to using the supplied U bolts and clamps.

I JUST GOT A FREAKIN IDEA HERE!! I have a Resonator pipe from my 09' M3 and its scrap metal I have in the garage. I'll be taking that pipe and I'll have that resonator cut and welded to another pipe. This way I don't have to cut behind the OEM resonator and I can keep the entire exhaust after the flex pipe intact. Alright another project I got coming now!!! Stay subscribed....custom Resonator.

I'll post pics of the CGS pipes and mufflers with tips. If you look up several post you'll see the picture and if you look far left you'll see the FLEX pipe to the left of that you'll see the OEM clamp that connects the rest of the exhaust. I'll have my M3 resonator and have them fabricate it to where they can just slide it on to the OEM pipe and re-use the OEM clamp there. The rest will be welded...AWESOME just figured out my own sh*t so I don't cut the OEM exhaust.

P.S. if you do buy a CGS exhuast keep in mind that I'll be having two custom resonators done since the M3 exhuast I have at home has two resonators. I'll be selling number two!

Great thanks for your answer, please do post pictures of the cat back just sitting on the floor, before installation if you can, so we can take a good look at it, I also want to see the tips, as you pointed out they are somehow different than the ones on their website.
I dont mind having to work on it, but since im not in the US, id be very dissapointed if I got a wrong part, now im concerned about their ability to ship the system without making those basic mistakes.

I think you'll be alright, I would suggest you call Casey at CGS Motorsports and he'll ensure it is rigth the first time. He is really good to work with and will make sure you're taking care of.

Also the difference on the tips on the one of there Silver Explorer (Casey is the owner of that one) is that his tips are double walled and are shorter. The ones I have are single walled but longer which I like better so when you look at it from the side it'll like it has more depth instead of a stubby cut off.

I like it, but for the price I think its well worth it and if you go to StreetPros.com and take advantage of the sale of 10% off and free shipping, it is a very good damn deal.

I'll post pics up tomorrow.

I would suggest if you have the extra coin, order the magnaflows. I imagine the quality better and a true bolt-on. The extra cost of the magnaflows being a true bolt-on would offset the cost needed to take the cgs' to a shop to make it work.

Now I haven't heard of anyone installing the magnaflows on an explorer... Call them and try to get more info.

The resonator pipe from the BMW sounds interesting... Just have to check on diameter of the resonator you have. Also something to consider is the size/volume of the resonator... Might give you a favorable sound but may give an unfavorable sound?

Thanks for the advice, I do like magnaflow a lot, but I was considering the CGS one because it was half the price of the magnaflow, and the free shipping :D

Do you have or do you know a good magnaflow dealer, with good prices online ? Why dont we start a group buy ? so we can get that price down a bit...

Call magnaflow and see if they will do a group purchase and let us know.

They may be expensive but again if you pay a shop to make the others fit, I'd rather pay more to do myself. Years ago I shopped out an entire long tube header system for my z06 and the kooks weren't cheap, but was a 'true' bolt on and was able to do it myself in my garage. Well worth over a cheaper system that I would have had to pay hundreds for someone else to install.

From the magnaflows website, check this instruction file.... Looks like a true bolt-on
