I know it's close to Halloween, but... Three times in the past week and a half, I've gone out to warm up the 95 EB. It's been gettin' cold around here, ;) . When I've gone out to leave, my HL are on. The swith is off, turning it on and off doesn't shut them off. I have to turn off the ignition until they stay off. Even then, I have to do this a few times because sometimes the lights will come back on. Whats up??

it's a gagagagagagoast!

Do you have the automatic lights on yours? This could be your problem.

when cold lately my 96 with 154K miles is doing the same thing.
I do not have auto headlights
A relay in the dash is clicking, when truck is running, headlights flash on and off, stay on, go off, etc....

It's hard to figure these issues out because it is so intermittant, but I know where to look so I plan to tackle it this weekend.

Gen II trucks are still a bit new to me :)

Nope, no auto. lights. I've had the vehicle 3 years, first time it'e ever acted like this. Help me exorcise this demon!!;)

I had an F250 that was doing the same thing, turned out it was the headlight switch itself. Replaced it and it solved the problem

This happened to me with another vehicle, I replaced the headlight switch which cured the problem. When I checked the old one I could see the contact grease was pretty badly contaminated which I figured was responsible for shorting out the contacts.

okay I will check into this, thanks fellas I just happen to have a spare.....

Still having problems. When the ignition is powered, I hear a click, the HL come on, wont turn off with the switch. Only turn off when ignition is off. Just started, periodically, about 2 weeks now. Any ideas?

apparently it is the headlight switch.
I am replacing mine this weekend so we shall see if it goes away

Hey 410Fortune, just curiouse did you change out the h/l switch and did it take care of the prob?

Not yet I got sidetracked, but I do have the new switch ready to go in so I will be doing it today hopefully

My 2000 Explorer did the very same thing this morning! It's also very cold here.
Has this problem been resolved and what was the fix if it has been resolved?
Thanks!
