Have a rattling noise near fan and radiator....what can I do?

I'd remove the accessory belt so I could run the engine for just a minute. This will show if it's in the engine ( still rattles) , or, in a belt driven accessory. ( doesn't rattle)
Not too long though because the water pump won't be pumping.
