I get up to 3k RPM's and it seems like the motor just loses power. I don't know what's going on it's been going on for some time now

try checking out your fuel pressure and volume you may have a problem with your fuel pump. also change out your fuel filter

Is your CEL on? You might want to check for codes.
Its does sort of sound like a fuel problem, when was it last tune up done?

I am haning trouble getting my truck in 3rd gear 5speed manual

what is wrong thread

He just means that in this thread, you should be trying to help themainsuspect with his issue and commenting on your previous experience with your Explorer's motor dying at 3000 RPM. If you are having your own - UNRELATED, I might add - issue, start your own thread and people will be more than happy to help. Don't hijack a thread.

Could be a clogged fuel filter or possibly a MAF problem, you really need to pull the codes to put you in the right direction.

Try the simple things first...

When I bought my lovely purple mess, the former owner warned me there were some problems and boy, he was NOT kidding.... I also had some serious (and sometimes Scary) lag with her. Turned out to be just a bunch of really rotted vacuum hoses on the PCV/Intake. The fuel pressure regulator hose is the one facing the front of the vehicle. I sure hope that's all it is!

Did you get it fixed then? Or is there other stuff wrong still?

The last tune up was less than 30k ago when the block was swaped since the old one cracked in half

Yea i am going to try and check for codes because the check engine light is on, but it has been for a long time i just thought i had hit something when i was dropping in the motor to the truck

Yea i will try that this weekend, it's not just that but it is also getting around 10 or less miles to the gallon

Yea i had the same problem as well the previous owner (older brother) really messed with the truck and it has been a real hassle getting it to work correctly.. hopefully i just have a small problem as well

No i haven't gotten it fixed, i will most likely go this weekend and get the truck checked for codes; depending on the amount of money that i will have to put in i will either fix it or start sourcing parts for a 5.0 swap and suspension, ( was going that route regardless) just sometime later on when i was more financially stable

I finally was able to resolve it, since my smog check was due and when it didn't pass i was told that the MAF sensor was not for the explorer it was off of a 1995-1996 Mustang/Cobra and therefore that is why it was running horrible, i removed it and it opened up the top end tremendously, i will be going to the junkyard sometime this week and will be purchasing a MAF sensor though
