I am thinking about buying some header wraps to wrap my exhaust headers and my rubber intake. Are these worth the money, I can buy them for around $50 - $100 for enough to cover them both.

What are the gains I can expect?

What you can expect is for your headers to rust away. The wrap works for its designed purpose, but it also absorbs water and will destroy the headers.

I agree with Mike

They will cut your header's life in half:(

cut in half? more like down to 10%. i tried this little trick back in high school... brand new set of Hooker's... they lasted a year with the tape on. pulled the tape off and they looked as though they were a relic from the Titanic.

How about the ceramic-coated headers? Will they decompose as quickly with the wrap on?

Not as quickly as plain "painted" headders, but anything that allows moisture to sit on a metal surface will rduce the product's (headders) life expectency. Also, why would you wrap coated headders? The coating is a thermal barrier and will keep the under hood tempatures slightly cooler than "painted" headders.
