Nice work on the headers. That's a tough job.

I moved the photos out of the first thread. They were very large and they screwed up the layout on the main www.explorerforum.com page...

Sorry! What is good size to post links for?

Wow, what a project! I admire you engineering skills. Keep up the good work.

This is common install for 1995-2001 Explorer.

I have never seen one with a 351.

No, the 95-01 explorers never came with the 351W. What I was refering to was the 351W swap and headers I am working on are common to the 95-01 and 98+ Torsion Bar Rangers.

I have not seen a 98+ Ranger with a 351W and know of only one 95-01 Explorer with a 351W. The explorer was built by Ford SVE as a test mule to run up against the Jeep Grand Cherokee - never made production, but it did have a Mustang Cobra R 351W in it - went like stink! I am sure there are others out there, just never seen one.

Thanks for the kind words! This is my second go at making headers for this truck. My first trial was using a few sets of mustang 1 5/8" headers and some j-bends. This time, I used all new parts and custom flanges. The key is the custom flanges, as with the mustang ones I started with, everytime I removed and replaced the primary tubes, they would be in a different location at the collector end, due to the "slop" in the bolts at the head. This is very frustrating when trying to fit tubes together!

I still need to seam weld these and am hoping I don't see too much distortion from the welding. I will TIG weld them a little on each side to try and equalize the distortion. From there, I will braze the head flanges on the outside and send off for Jet Hot coating.

my 94 has a 351w
