Does anyone know the difference between Low Series 1 Channel LDM and High Series / ECE 2 Chanel LDM?

2018 Ford Explorer XLT base model

I recently had to replace my driver side headlight as it was totally damaged. The used headlight assembly I purchased came with the High Series / ECE 2 Channel LDM ballast. My passenger side headlight, original to the explorer has the low series 1 channel LDM ballast.

yes, they appear to be similar but do carry different part numbers on the module's label. That problem that I have is that the signature light on one of my headlight does not turn on (right side). Everything else works fine, low, high and flash except the signature LED around the headlight. Not sure how to test if the LED has gone bad or if it is the module. I will need to take front bumper off to swap modules to see if it works.

Could the headlight that doesn't have the signature light working be from a base model? I believe base model Explorers do not have the signature lights.

Also, from your OP, you stated that the driver side headlight was replaced, but in post #3 you state that the passenger (right side from driver's perspective) headlight has the problem. If correct, then your problem wouldn't be related to the replacement headlight, right? If the problem is in the replacement headlight, then it seems your problem is using the incorrect replacement lamp, which is also reflected in the part description "Low Series" & "High Series". These designations usually refer to lower & higher trims.

Hi Omar, the explorer that I have is a base model. The right side headlight is the original headlight for this explorer. The left side is the one that got damaged and replaced. The right side module is a low series while the left headlight I purchased came with the high series module. So if base models do not come with signature lights, then that explains it. Since I purchased the explorer as is, damaged, I can't validate that the right side signature light worked. What I will do is swap modules and see if headlight assembly comes with the signature lights and the only difference is module.

thank you for the confirmation! Have a great weekend.

Hello guys, I have similar question, my ballast is low series( already burned), If I replace is with high series it will work or not?!

Unfortunately I don't have the answer. If you don't get an answer here, try calling a dealer or one of the Ford parts sites. Benny at Levittown Ford Parts is pretty good so I've read.
