As i have damaged my Workshop CD i can not see how to get my headlight unit out of the X.
All the searches show different models and not mine being a 1997 x
dickd, I replaced mine a while back due to the clouding of the lens. I did not remove the grill, but used pliers to squeeze and release the black plastic clips at the end of the screws. Then, the new ones just push in. Look behind the black plastic stars.
You can do what DRDoom did; or the 3 screws that attach to the black clips you can unscrew those and then the black clips will pull out a lot easier though the direction of your lights could possibly be screwed up unless you mark how far in the screw went. If the new lens comes with new screws and clips just unscrew them it's a lot easier. When I replaced my housings I was able to squeeze my hand behind it to grab the clips and pull them out. I hope that helps even though it sounds confusing.
Got it ! many thanks, hard as hell to get into the back of the three long screws but once you squeeze them they release from the hole holding them in place
