Look at your mirror. It should have a slider for delay. All the way to the left is off and all the way to the right is the longest delay. When the mirror detects a certain level of light it turns on the lights and the headlight switch is not active anymore.

Thank you! That’s kinda cool I may just leave it on now lol.

My Recommend setting it right at the D of the word Delay. The lights stay on for about 1 minute after you get turn the truck off.

My lights started coming on at unusual times, and neither the slide delay nor the
switch would turn them off. I disconnected the wiring plug behind the mirror to
turn them off, and left the plug disconnected. Can't take the chance of running the
battery down...

It is common for the slider switch to wear and prevent the auto lamp function from turning "off". I replaced my mirror three times over the years because I didn't like the auto lamp feature. I ended up cutting a small black cable tie and inserting it between the switch and the mirror frame. It keeps my auto lamps off and since the cable tie is black you don't see it.

I actually recently went through the trouble of digging my autolamp mirror out of the garbage and I spliced the wiring back together to use it!

My light switch fell off inside the back of the dash, and I posted about it here, and someone asked why I still used that and not the autolamp feature. Apparently the mounting point for the switch is weak and prone to breaking. Hell! I didn't even know my truck came with an autolamp feature! LOL So almost a year prior I had thrown the stock mirror in the garbage because it was not mounted when I got the truck. There was a replacement mirror and windshield button included with the truck so I had used that.

After I found out about the autolamp feature I dug through my 55 gal garbage can in the garage, and found the sucker. The original owner had cut the wires, so I pulled down the sunroof control and found the wires, and spliced everything back together.

I LOVE THE AUTOLAMP FEATURE!
