I got rid of mine, there is plenty of room to hollow it out a bit and try to put it back in. Look at members jefe, bkennedy, R.J., stic-o, Rick & clarkkent for some different cages on 4 door trucks.
On my BII, I cut the headliner in half right at the B-pillars/domelight area. This allowed me to slip both pieces of it into place above the cage from the rear. The seam is right above the B-pillar hoop of the cage and isn't real noticeable.
I'm thinking the same should be possible on a Ex headliner too.
