I installed a set of powered heated seats out of a 2004 Sport Trac in my Ranger. The wiring schematic on my shop manual CD says there should be 5 wires to both seats
1 ground
2 constant 12v to power seat
3 constant 12V to heat controller
4 switched 12V to heat controller
5 illumination for heat switch light.

The drivers side is set up this way and works fine

The passenger side only has 4 wire from the seat to the connector.
1 ground
2 constant 12v to power seat
3 constant 12V to heat controller
5 illumination for heat switch light

The power seat works fine but does not seem to heat up. I know I have a constatnt 12V to the controller. I've pulled the passenger seat back out and there is no wire for the switched 12V to the heat controller. All the color codes match the ones in the shop manual

Any ideas as to what I'm missing

Dean

I to am doing a set of power seats of the same era into my sport trac. Do you happen to have the wiring diagram or can you tell me what color wire is for what?

FYI.......2003 and 2004 Sport Trac seat wiring is different. 2004 is relay controlled. Are you running through a relay? PM me your email address and I'll send you the schematic.
The passenger seat has a constant 12V for adjustment, heat power from the relay (which is what the 5th drivers side wire powers) an indicator lamp wire and a ground.

Heated seats not working in my 2005 sport trac

2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac, 4.0L, v6, 4x4

Problem:
Heated seats not working

Description:
All seat legs are corroded / paint flaking. Where are the grounds located? to the seat legs???
My driver’s seat heats very slowly, takes probably an hour or so to heat up. Light on the switch works fine.
My passenger side light switch comes on, but the head produces not heat, for any length of time.

Can someone forward me a schematic, or any info?
Thanks,
AF
