My 03 Sport Trac blower motor resistor went out and the first three fan speeds don't work, not mention how annoying it is to drive around with the fan on high. Trying to locate where this beast resides. My manual says it's on the heater housing in the engine bay. Has anyone messed with this part and is my manual accurate for the location?

Your manual is correct it is accessed through the engine bay. If you look at your blower motor, it is just below it. It's pretty easy to get to if you move your coolant/washer reservoir to the side. I have replaced quite a few of them!

That was it. $15 at O'Reillys part number RU1098. Removed radiator overflow tank, windshld washer tank and cruise control module. Easy to replace. The resistor on it is the only thing that could go bad. Probably a $2 part, but who wants to solder.

The part can be had from Radio Shack, takes about 7 minutes to replace. Digi-key also sells the part. About $3 to fix.

I like to solder.

Do you have the R value for the resister. Still have my original part. Will replace it and have a spare.
