When i turn on my heat, my windshield fogs up (50% of the time) and it will smell like antifreeze and will not defrost however there is lots of heat.
To me this sounds like a bad heater core,
however, i believe that may lower intake manifold may be leaking antifreeze, which causes smoke in the engine compartment periodically, could this be whats fogging my widow or would it be heater core.thanks

The best way to spot the leak would be to remove the passenger inner fender liner completely.
When My heater core went out, it dripped right on the passenger side exhaust down pipe. This could be the steam you see. There is a small chance a hose leak is seeping into the hvac housing.

Prepare yourself, changing the heater core is an all day job for the fittest, with a couple of packed lunches.

yes i definitly see steam coming out of the vents, so i gather what you are saying is that is is possible for the steam thats created from the intake manifold enter the hvac? or only from a leking core? sorry for my ignorance

No
I am saying the 2 hoses which feed into the firewall, to supply the heater core, "Might" have a leak. The intake manifold has nothing to do with vapor in the cabin.

Thanks for the help. I took a little better look and it does appear the hoses are ok but it does seem like some of the leaking antifreeze is hitting that passenger side exhaust manifold pipe right where it y's before the converter as you had happen to you.

its usually not the hoses that are the problem but the heater control valve.
