I can't seem to get the blower in my daughters 94 Explorer to come on, there is heat but it will not blow, I couldn't find a fuse for the motor under the dash and the one under the hood is fine, checked that. I did pull the harness off the motor to see if there was power but I didn't have any going to the blower motor. Is there another fuse or could the 50amp one under the hood be bad even though it checked out fine with a test light, It's staring to get cold here in MN and she has been complaining, LOL.

Just fixed the same problem on my 92 explorer this weekend. Do you get a reaction from any of the blower speeds? (does one setting work and others dont? or is it that all settings get no reaction?)

There is a pretty common problem with the resistor blowing out for the blower motor. However, when that goes out the problem is usually that one blower motor setting will work while the other wont. The resistor itself is located in the engine bay, against the firewall, directly next to the blower motor. If you open that up it is also a good time to clean out any leaves and dirt that accumulated near the blower motor. There should be a writeup somewhere on this site about that.

What turned out to be my problem was actually the relay that powers the blower motor which attaches to the wiring harness etc. I had pulled it and checked it by applying 12 volts to the correct terminal and I heard the relay click so I though it was ok. After changing and testing other parts and still not having a blower motor that works I simply replaced the relay (cost only a few dollars at my local auto parts place) and now my blower motor works again on all settings.

Apparently it did for awhile now there is nothing. Is there some way I can get a description of the resistor or where the relay is located.

Thanks but I'm not sure this is my problem or not, there is no speeed with the fan and when I checked the the plug going into the motor there was no power but power at the fuse.???

If you're getting no reaction from any position on the switch, and if you clearly have power at the fuse but not at the motor my bet would be that the relay needs to be changed. I cant recall off the top of my head what color the wires might be going to that relay but if you just follow back from the blower motor you should find it....mine was hanging loose and was almost under the power distribution block.

this thread has the info on the resistor for the blower motor. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1951019
I dont see anything in there about the relay....but if you look at the pictures you can get an idea of what wires to follow back towards the relay.

Couple of bucks for a new relay and I would bet that solves your problem. Worst case scenario, buy the relay and swap it out to see if it fixes the problem. If it doesnt just return the relay.

The blower relay is in the power distribution box - under the hood on the passenger side.
It's a black box about the size of a brick with a hinged cover. There are a bunch of fuses and six relays in there.
There is a legend on the bottom of the cover which shows which relay is the blower relay.

All six relays are the same part number so if you want to verify that the blower relay is really bad,
just swap relays with an adjacent one, temporarily, and see if the blower works again.

btw, if that relay has failed, or is intermittent, likely the other ones are on their way out.
I'd replace the fuel pump relay at the same time since that will leave you stranded
with an intermittent no-start condition.

The relays.....I completely forgot about checking them, thanks. I know all too much about the fuel pump one going out, had it happen on an old F150 I had. Thanks I'll let you know how it goes.
