Does anyone know if there is a better than stock radiator for a 1st gen X? My 91 4x4 is an automatic. I want better than what I have but I want it to fit properly. Thanks David Jarrett

Thats what Iwas thinking too....unless there was another post that was deleted before I saw the thread?

ah, ok you got me there....... 11 minutes

and 2 weeks...... there isnt one to my knowledge..... sorry for the snappy response, just got home from the bullfights in the valley, and have a total of about 4 tasty beverages in me now ..... will sleep like a baby tonight, but may need to make a few trips to the bathroom to drain.......

Chek your current radiator

Mine was made in late 91 and it had the three core radiator. I had trouble when I ordered one, they sent a 2 core that didn't fit. A Modine at NAPA is only about $200.

How about doing a SEARCH to find this out (!!)
All of this info is readily available here already. Then there's no need for smart ass responses that we see here.

FYI of course you can get a better than stock rad. It's all about how much you want to spend. Be-Cool makes a rad for about $400-500 that's all metal. A rad shop can make a custom for you. Finally Ford has a 3-row Super Cooling radiator for about $250 that was a factory option. All that and more from a Search function...

Thanks very much !

Thanks alot guys, I'm so glad to have some good options to look into. :) I wasnt trying to be a jerk, After 19 days, thats almost 3 weeks, I had given up and was going to PM a mod to delete it so it wouldn't take up space. Rhett I did a search for a better radiator and got 83 pages with over 1600 different threads. I read over 3 hours a night for 4 nights and didnt find what I needed. I had never touched a computer before in my life until 3 months ago so I dont know anything about them at all. I can read peoples post and look at their pics on this site and thats all I can do. If this 1 little ? I asked takes too much space or what ever its called, you should have read the 700 threads and 2500 pages of text I read before I gave up, because you can delete about 2/3 of it as useless or repetitive. Sorry I had the nerve to ask a question, I must of had the mistaken impression that was what this site was for, I wont bother you again:( I did appreciate the help BYE

I'll give some more info
I replaced my rad in January of this yr, and I before that I went through several months process of finding a replacement, because I had time to do the research. Be-Cool is a company that makes all-metal rad's of all types, sizes, etc. and the one they make for our 1st Generation (91-94) Explorers is expensive but supposedly very good--I talked to hot rod guys that swear by Be-Cool rads. I ended up going with a Ford (actually made by a company called Visteon) 3-row radiator. Ford called this the "Super Cooling" option; it was a factory option fitted to some Explorers. It's still metal and plastic (which I don't like) but if it lasts 7 years like the first rad did, it will be ok. Chances are your truck came with a 1-row or 2-row, so the Super cool is 3-row and should be able to take desert crossings or whatever else you throw at it. My buddy has a 4-row in his Bronco II but he's got that thing setup for running across Arizona and Nevada deserts in summer. I'd wager that my truck would do ok in that regard too, now.

You keep on posting and ask anything you want. Just ignore the people who can only helpby saying search; they once didn't know how to do it either.

Good luck.....
