After a weekend of hard wheeling, the clutch is slipping in my 1992 4x4. Ford replaced it this summer, but I’ve run 17000 miles since then. This time, it’s going to get fixed at home and I would appreciate some info on a heavy-duty unit. I wanted one this summer because the vehicle is used for towing, has larger tires, and gets used frequently off road, but could only get a warranty (12 months or 12000 miles) with Ford parts. Looks like I might have made the wrong choice, but oh well. Some previous posts have praised Centerforce, others suggest going with a factory replacement unit. Unless there is something seriously flawed with the Centerforce unit, I plan on going with it this time. Anyone running one of these had any problems and is it superior to other aftermarket brands?
Are there any tricks to doing this, or should I just follow the manual? I’ve got a tranny jack and a couple of friends coming to help, but would love a few shortcuts to make it go in quicker.
