Hello, my name is Ed and I just tried to get my 96 Ranger XLT passed emissions testing and everything was good except that they couldn't get the 'CHECK ENGINE' light to come on. Is this an easy fix?

..Usually it's just a burnt out light bulb..

..It's a pain to swap just one bulb but a Chilton's book found at most all auto parts stores carries the info with pictures on how to do this..:biggthump

I had the same problem last year on my 97 Explorer and it was a shorted wire coming thru the fire wall so check that if it's not the bulb.
