Hello, My name is Marcus from Baltimore. I'm currently planning a restoration on my mother's 2001 Explorer V8. Looking for any local help with transmission slipping problems and any general info about low-cost V8's that can be swapped into this model. Have a great day.

welcome to EF!!! post plenty of pics from the process! how old is the trans fluid? is it up to the line on dipstick? if not it could be soemthing like bands or solenoids. which gears does it slip in? or all? theres plenty of v8s available, you could rebuld your own from a JY, jasper makes a good long block, but its massive $$$ 410fortune on here, long time member and v8 swap guru, and an all around cool guy, uses ATK for his motors... plus, they make a 365 HP 302 for a nice power boost they also have everythign up to a 347... if you go ATKmake sure to tell them to use the exploree dampner and timing cover. and 410fortunes guy, brett, makes great trannies i hear!!!! maybe get incontact with @410Fortune for all this! someday, someday... ill get a v8 from this guy!!! these rigs are tough trucks!!!!!!!!
