Hello from Long Time Lurker

Well since the sun is shining and I have had the first clean on the Ex. I thought I should share some pictures. I wanted to share how 'straight' the vehicle is and overall, how clean. Once it has been serviced and new tyres fitted etc. I intend to take a proper setof pictures and will share them wth everyone :)

I'm really happy with the overall condition of this car:

Give chrisquelch a pm or call explorerpartsuk (find their details on ebay) to get a plastic cover thing for the ariel.
Other than that great looking old girl.

...get a plastic cover thing for the ariel.

I shouldn't have assumed that small piece of trim would have gone unnoticed by Forum Folk ;) I removed that trim to 'get at' my leccy aerial. Since I managed to remove the trim without breaking it, Ithought I would leave it off while I read around how to replace the thing :P

However, the Ex. is at my mechanics getting sorted :) I'm dreading 'the' phone call informing me that its a lemon!

** UPDATE **

Right-O, I couldn't stand the suspense so I popped down to the mechanic...

Apparently the vehicle doesn't need some of the servicing I requested, namely the fuel filter and diff. oil change. My mechanic suggested that as there is absolutely no leakage (or evidence thereof) and absence of an knocking etc. - to leave the diffs. well alone, just like the ATF. As the fuel filter looks very new (and concurrent with the servicing records for the car) - no need to change that either. So that just leaves finish fitting pads/discs all round and A/C re-gas to go - I'm delighted!

So not only does that save me labour, but also the cost of the parts I had bought. I knew the car wouldn't need anything doing ;) I will however make a donation to charity as I had budgeted for all this stuff to be done. So spread the love :)

Well, after having had a couple days to enjoy the Ex. I'm wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for the following please:

1. Replacement fob. My Ex. has a two-button fob. Checking eBay I see that many are the 3 button type. Do I specifically need a 2 button or can I go with the 3 (and accept the third button is redundant for my car)?

2. Ford 7000 Radio. Mine has the disappearing display but otherwise works fine. Have read forum messages on fixes and TBH I'm not for pulling it apart and soldering etc. Due to the required hand-eye-co-ordination ;0) I have found a thread on here which suggests the 6000 Ford radio is a direct replacement. Can I replace with a 6006 unit or must I have the 6000 unit?

3. Anyone on the forum selling a working 6000/6006 head unit?

4. Ford VNR 9000. Would this Ford head unit be compatible wit my Ex. as a direct replacement in lieu of the 6000/6006 units?

And lastly, I appear to be suffering from ABS judder at low speeds/when coming to a halt. I thought this would be something that would rectify itself at service but alas no :0( Having read the forum/Google, it appears that it is likely to be my (front) speed sensors that need replacing. Anyone point me in the direction of a reputeable supplier who could help please?

Well I appear to have solved the hub issue, thanks in great part to Justin. With his help I was able to figure out that it was O/S/F hub causing the problems. I don't fancy spending silly money on a new hub, so will roll the dice on one of Justins 'known good' used hubs. Whilst there I also decided to get a replacement flexible-aerial kit (to replace my broken leccy one), a genuine Ford OO12M kit + misc. other bits.

Hopefully that'll be it now!

Hopefully that'll be it now!

Dude you wish
you will start to find things to fix even if they don't need it in the first place!!!
LOL

That made me laugh :)

However I am decided that I'm not going to throw money at the Ex. :P

If something does go *BANG* I'll scrap it...
