Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum....I guess that didn't need to be said since I am in the new members forum...
I have a '99 Explorer XLT (V6). Right now, this nice truck is going to drive me to the brink of bankruptcy...I plan on posting some threads and researching what I can to assist in fuel economy (as best a 4X4 can be anyway). I am on dial up and researching will take some time, so if anyone out there has any tips while I do my searches please feel free to message me with them.
I have changed the oil/filter, Spark Plugs (Bosch Platinum), air filter and never drive over 100 KM/hr (62 MPH for US). I rarely have in 4 Wheel drive...I don't sit and idle...and I want to pull my hair out... the only thing that is not good on the truck is that it has a rattling idler pulley (I have a new pulley and will change it next week)....I don't think it is seizing and/or causing that much friction to warrant the fuel intake. I work on my own vehicles and have never seen anything eat this fuel like this truck does....
Basically $65 for 200 KMs of driving....that stinks....and I am at a loss...any suggestions while I research this forum would be greatly appreciated...
I know I should not have posted this here, but ultimately...this is why I am here tonight in this forum....researching help....
I thank everyone who provides feedback...as it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Danielle
