I can not find when I search for the fan relay for a 97 explorer. I found the 94 and 02 but not the 97 when I did a search. I have the no fan or high problem. I think it is the fan relay but wounding if anyone can help me find it. Thanks in advance..

So looking from the front bumper it is on the far left at 4 o'clock on the blower housing. I am looking for a wire harness that enter the firewall at 4 oclock?

The blower housing is round-
looking from the front of the vehicle-pretend it is a clock.
The harnees looks like it is plugged into the blower housing-not actually the firewall-sorry.
4 o'clock meaning lower right side-

Ok I have a problem with this one...
Went to get the part from the auto store and he said that it was not the relay. It must be the blower dial switch on the dash. That is the only thing that would do this.
The problem is that no speed setting and full on is the only fan blower speed I have. So it is really a on off switch which only turns on when the fan is on high... Anyway to check to see what it really is?

Anyone know how to check which part may be failing?

when fan is on for first couple of settings no fan speed. Once you get to the highest setting the fan clicks on high. runs same high speed as before. It is almost like the signal does not reach the fan till high speed setting is dialed in. So the fan is really like on and off. low-next-and next are still off till you reach the high speed and then the fan clicks on.

As indicated... if your fan comes on at all, then it isn't your fan relay... its your resistor pack for the fan speeds. Lots of posts... relatively easy to replace and there are some tips on "cleaning" and "gooping" help keep the contacts clean to prevent problems in the future.
